I'm the Founder & Executive Director of Ulection, a Clinical Research Coordinator at the University of California, San Francisco, and a recent graduate of the Master of Public Health (MPH) program at San Francisco State University. I created Ulection to help modernize how candidates run for office and the way people share with the locations in which they live. On Ulection, posts and events are organized by topic and location so that it is easy to find the events taking place where you live and what people in your area are discussing. Additionally, your candidates and elected officials (once they sign up and verify their profile) show up on their respective location page. Now people can simply go to their location page, view and interact with their candidates and officials, and learn about events and what is being discussed in their area. There is also an option to join a candidates campaign! When citizens are engaged on Ulection candidates will no longer need to fundraise copious amounts of money to reach us as they can directly share issues, interviews, speeches, and events to their constituents. We believe this will allow better candidates to win primaries and general elections and will increase voter turnout, and thus decrease the effects of money in politics.
This looks like a great event : ) thank you for sharing this.
It's hard for me to not like this post haha
This is a great idea! I think Maine is currently experimenting with a ranked choice system.
In this video, John Oliver explains the gerrymandering process and makes the argument that the responsibility of drawing districts should not be given to politicians. I think it is important that this responsibility be given to an independent commiss...
Politicians tend to listen when there is overwhelming popular support for something. If enough people keep pressure on then they will probably reroute the pipeline. I'm looking forward to the day we are fully renewable. Thank you for sharing this. I feel the community organizing at Standing Rock will set a strong example for how people can get things done when they come together : )
This is great! I hope the event goes well! Thank you for sharing : )
This looks like an awesome event! Thank you for sharing this : ) I'll be able to catch the end of this after class.
Jason, thank you so much for sharing this. I will be reaching out to the Campus Vote Project to see if they can get involved with Ulection. I hope you can help by reaching out to them as well. It's very important that college students and young people turn out to vote. We can sway any election when we turn out.
I wonder how much thought he puts into his tweets haha. Obviously the newspapers should be held to a high standard to report the truth, but being able to say or write what one pleases is one of the most American things. From numerous statements (and tweets) Trump has made about the press it should cause people to seriously question his plans for censorship and suppression.
I couldn't agree more with your position on this. Proportional taxation is the way to go.
So many fails by the secretary of state's office. I would like the job of organizing polling places, volunteers, and ballot material. There's a clear formula for how to do this correctly. To fail so badly at this is either huge incompetence or corruption by the state.
Very cool : ) I'm looking forward to seeing more of your Issue posts so your constituency can learn your views on the issues that affect your community.
There have been several documentaries highlighting the difficulties teachers are facing with working in San Francisco. Retaining these teachers through providing a livable salary and maintaining school resources is very important if we want to secure a bright future for our school children.
That San Francisco flag needs some work haha
This is a very powerful message. If each of the presidential candidates had an equal platform to spread their message this could really resonate. Fortunately, Ulection provides this equal platform. If we can get all of our candidates on board with Ulection then the people will have clear choices this November. Let's promote democracy and spread the word of Ulection.
