Let's Solve Money in Politics and Elect Better Candidates
Posted 2 years ago
Ulection is a social network that modernizes how candidates run for office and how people share with the locations in which they live. On Ulection, posts and events are organized by topic and location so that it is easy to find the events taking place where you live and what people in your area are discussing. Additionally, your candidates and elected officials (once they sign up and verify their profile) show up on their respective location page. So, now people can simply go to their location page, view and interact with their candidates and officials, and learn about events and what is being discussed in their area. There is also an option to join a candidates campaign! When citizens are engaged on Ulection candidates will no longer need to fundraise copious amounts of money to reach us as they can directly share issues, interviews speeches, and events to their constituents. We believe this will allow better candidates to win primaries and general elections and will increase voter turnout, and thus decrease the effects of money in politics.
Click around on the site, sign up, and let's come together to discuss the issues that matter. Once our candidates and officials see the content that we are creating they will be motivated to join and the wheels will be in motion of creating a space for political discussion where citizens, candidates, and officials are learning from one another and positively shaping their communities.
Ulection has been helping to shape the discussion in my community of Boulder, Colorado. I have been able to meet fellow citizens who are passionate about politics and the quality of life in our community. When our candidates and officials interact with us on Ulection.com we can work together to make the changes that we want to see - ones that are influenced by the people and not special interests.
I love this. Ulection has the potential to change political discussion in our country and increase the receptiveness of elected officials to our voices. We are always told to "go and vote" but we rarely know enough about the candidates to make informed decisions. When our candidates are sharing with us on Ulection, we will be informed and empowered to make the best choice come election day, leading to better candidates who truly care about serving us!
